MULTIMETER

The MULTIMETER project serves as a foundational development program, aimed at fostering hands-on experience in rocket design, avionics, and systems integration. In this initiative, multiple small teams independently design, build, and launch their own model rockets from the ground up. This decentralized approach encourages innovation, rapid iteration, and the development of specialized expertise across a broad range of technical domains.

Each rocket is equipped with a custom-designed avionics system, the µMETER PCB, which enables onboard data acquisition and flight monitoring. These compact, purpose-built electronics allow teams to gather critical performance data, including flight dynamics and system behavior, under real launch conditions.

The insights, design iterations, and technical knowledge generated through MULTIMETER will directly inform the development of the team’s next major project, METER-03. By consolidating lessons learned and validated subsystem designs, MULTIMETER acts as a stepping stone toward more advanced, integrated rocket systems.

Test Rocket

The MULTIMETER Test Rocket (Multimeter Electronics Test Article, or M.E.T.A.) is designed to test the general concept of MULTIMETER and assist the development of the recovery system, featuring the parachute and flight computer µMETER.
M.E.T.A. is launched in a small-scoped testing environment, with a C6P engine and an estimated apogee of around 50m.

Flight Computer

As already mentioned, MULTIMETER features a custom smaller-scoped flight computer called µMETER. It resembles the Altus Metrum – Easy Mega in size, but fully in-house developed in hard- and software.

µMETER runs AURORA, a zephyr-based avionics flight-software, developed by our software-team. AURORA’s purpose in this project is to detect apogee and deploy the recovery system.
